What is it?
This is another of the numerous projects to recreate lost Great Western Railway classes using a mix of donor locomotives and newly-fabricated parts, made possible by the large numbers of ex-GWR survivors from the Barry scrapyard. The GWR’s Saint class was the basis of their later Hall locomotives, and while every one of the Saints was scrapped (or converted to a Hall), numerous Halls have been preserved. One of them, 4942 Maindy Hall, is being rebuilt (de-built?) into a Saint.
Status: With much of the necessary metal already existing, substantial chunks of the engine are already complete as can clearly be seen from the photo.
Possible completion date: not given

Further re 1014 – the new 6’3″ driving wheels are a Didcot being painted. Don’t know where you got the story that they were missing.
